It is not lost on me that it is a trope that programmers are very specific about what given text editor they really like. In the before times it was VIM VS EMACS, but honestly that shit is so fucking stupid, both of those editors are shit. Yeah I said it, you know why? because both of them require you to learn a whole different way to use the keyboard just to put some text on the screen in the hope that it might be 1/10 of a second faster. The question on my mind is who cares? Most of the time I spend programming is thinking about how to solve the problem. Not even typing, just thinking. I personally use a text editor called [micro][micro-page]. you know what? I dont even really care about it, it does it’s job and thats it. I dont know why but it makes me a little angry when there is a bunch of garbage about something that isn’t important. Why have a special keyboard with the exact clicky keys that you like, why have two or even three monitors. These things seem like they dont have anything to do with actually getting the job of programming done. They are the gold rim, extra big spoiler, flames on the side of the car equivelent to the programming world. If anyone is interested this is my [micro config][micro-config]. You will likely not like it, but if you want to try it, download the file and after you have micro downloaded go to ~/.config/micro and replace the bare file with your new one. who cares honestly tho, just use the basic one that lets you use ctrl-c, ctrl-v and other normal shortcuts KISS, Keep, It, Simple, Stupid.

EDIT

Some of what I take back about vim is warranted. I now like the j and k keys for going down and up, and the l and h keys for going left and right. I dont like that it is a modal text editor, but there can be some gained from it. Using vim has become more of a nesisity as I’ve started doing more work around the world of servers, where you dont alwys have your perfect micro config. Nano is good too, but using the arrow keys sucks.

I have updated my bindings for micro accordingly. [micro-page]: https://micro-editor.github.io/ [micro-config]: https://github.com/v3ai/Micro-config/blob/main/bindings.json
